Week 13 - Grand Finale

ffox is like opera now, just type in keywords into address bar & they will be google searched.
Ctrl-D = Save as Draft
Ctrl-P =Publish
Ctrl click on mac = context menu

just found that firefox 1.0.6, part of 1.4.9 OSX image, doesn't automatically save, hence lost what I was typing 10 mins ago, learnt the hard way

the info probably wasn't that important anyway.

testing the autosave function using ffox 2.0.0.12

this is a test

all part of the fun when working with computers, even Macs.

web 2.0 awards, really need to check these out some time soon, they really look interesting.

have been using

to record favourite weekly TV shows

mac ffox tip - cmd click link - opens link in new tab in background.
bug / inconsistency with ffox 2.0.0.12
cmd-left arrow normally moves cursor to start of line, like HOME on windows
BUT
in ffox, it seems to be the keyboard shortcut for going back a page.

this was possibly how I lost my info in the first place; it is important to read the messages that pop up & not just accept willy nilly.

just bought a keyboard from Jaycar
http://jaycar.com.auLink

seems to be a Kensington knockoff
http://www.atpm.com/11.01/studioboard.shtml
the backslash key is next to the enter key; takes a bit of getting used to...
thought that I would accidentally press "\", but haven't done so, so far.

seems european keyboard layout has this feature...

the windows key is the apple key.

"think in Russian" as Clint Eastwood would say in the movie "Firefox", a bit of an uncanny coincidence as I am using ffox to enter this info.

looks like have to click on "save as draft" which exits to Posts window, then need to get back into post, then click "save now" before autosave gets activate.

ctrl-S is shortcut for save now in ffox.

another really bizarre coincidence, 23 things & the movie 23, which I watched last night.

Week 12 - Podcasting, Videos and downloadable audio part 2

need faster than 256kbps connection,
else have to use the pause when d'loading YouTube videos,

so that the whole footage d'loads,
else have a pause in the replay

most videos on youTube have embed code to the right of the play window

VPN needed for ECU Podcasts including ECU Flexilecture, when accessing from outside the ECU network.

Easter Sunday 23 Mar 7.05pm - the earliest for 150 years - education Vista lab.
Off-Air video footage on flexilecture, after buffering the whole program, access is instantaneous
else buffering can take up to 15 secs.

kill dwm.exe process with taskmanager, makes Vista run faster, still have to work out how to easily disable animation.
using Opera 9.26 portable:
this keyboard is mushy

education lab Vista has quicktime installed very handy for podcasts since they are saved as m4v

gr8 instructions on how to use audacity.

# 1. Downloading and installing Audacity

Week 11 - Podcasting, Videos and downloadable audio - Part I

trying to work out how to embed YouTube video footage into this blog

Didn't realise that I had been using podcasts

about 2 years ago I d'loaded MP3s from Robert Kiyosaki's
http://richdad.com

I d'load weekly podcasts of Aussie Tech Head
http://feeds.feedburner.com/thesecrethub/GVQl

also have previously d'loaded vodcasts of
http://www.abc.net.au/tv/goodgame/

here is a tip to remind myself.
highlight URI, copy, click on insert link & paste URI into dialog box.

Week 10 - Social Tagging part 2

just having a look at technorati

http://www.technorati.com/posts/9hvT4%2Frc9fYA4t5rRgO3GuAg8oRgcRQUc10iOgceNig%3D

also casio protrek

but no results returned for
sugar cube atomic clock

Trying to finish this off

looking at other participant's blogs to get ideas.
eg.
inspired by http://rsblg.blogspot.com/
have gone back to previous posts to put in the weeks.

it is good to be methodical & systematic.

I'm using Opera 9.25 @ home

I've noticed that Ctrl-P is same command as Print in Opera.
Safari doesn't detect Ctrl-P to publish.

favourite online spreadsheet
http://www.editgrid.com/user/g4qber/topfield_-_tv_timers
I use it to store my timer recordings

Opera 9.50's email client has autosave

Edit Html & Compose buttons missing in Opera, using Firefox at the moment; Safari also OK.

Firefox smart enough to know not to Print when Ctrl-P is pressed on this screen

much better to do this stuff in the e-Lab, faster net connection than @ home 256
also get to use e-Mac, just like driving a BMW, even though I haven't done so yet.

just remember to get a pair of headphones so as not to disturb others.
